Having trouble downloading a PDF?

Try right-clicking on the download link. One of the choices in the resulting drop-down menu will be something like Save Target As...or Save Link As... Select that one. A Save As dialog box will open for you to specify where to place the file. Once you have picked a folder for the file, click Save and the file should be downloaded to your computer. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, this may take awhile. Once the file is on your computer, navigate to where you stored it and open it using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader. The reader is available free at https://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

Recommendations for users

This website works best with a screen resolution of 640 x 360 pixels or more and Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Google's Chrome browser, or Apple's Safari browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser and the Opera browser handle most pages properly however on some pages, bulleted items appear double-spaced. We are working to correct that. To see the latest statistics on the popularity of various browsers, click here.

Since many of the pages and downloadable files are large, a high-speed internet connection is strongly recommended.

Articles and newspaper pages

OCN started publication in the year 2001. Volume 1 was published in 2001, Volume 2 was published in 2002, and so forth. There is one web page on this website for each of the published newspapers. That page contains the articles from that issue. The web addresses for those web pages take the form "vYnM.htm" where Y is the volume number, which is number of the year minus 2000, and M is the issue number, which is the number of the month. For example, the web address for the web page containing all the articles from the December 6, 2014 issue is www.ocn.me/v14n12.htm.

An Adobe Acrobat PDF version of each of the newspapers is stored in a file with a name of the form "vYnM.pdf" where Y is the volume number, which is number of the year minus 2000, and M is the issue number, which is the number of the month. For example, the name of the PDF file containing all the pages from the January 8, 2011 issue is "v11n1.pdf."

Each page from the printed papers is also stored in a separate Adobe Acrobat PDF file with a name of the form "vYnM P.pdf" where Y is the volume number, which is number of the year minus 2000, and M is the issue number, which is the number of the month, and P is the page number. Note that there is one space between the issue number M and the page number P. For example, the name of the PDF file containing page 5 from the January 2, 2021 issue is "v21n1 2.pdf".

When searching the website using our built-in search, you can select 'Articles' or 'Pages'. Select 'Articles' if what you are seeking appeared in one of our articles. Select 'Pages' if you are seeking something that appeared in an ad or want to see where the search words appeared on the printed page. Click here for more information on searching.
